Hi All,
Did you notice the following Message Center Message about the Junk-E-Mail Reporting Buttons in Outlook Mobile?
Let’s have a look at the Release notes for Outlook Mobile. Look how detailed it is 😂
Built-In Report Buttons
The built-in Report button is available in the following versions of Outlook:

The built-in Report button in Outlook on the web and the new Outlook for Windows supports reporting messages from shared mailboxes or other mailboxes by a delegate.
- Shared mailboxes require Send As or Send On Behalf permission for the user.
- Other mailboxes require Send As or Send On Behalf permission and Read and Manage permissions for the delegate.

Outlook for Windows (Classic)
The built-in Reporting Buttons in Outlook Classic have been around several Months
According the Microsoft 365 roadmap about since August 2024. Or have a detailed look in Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps
But at this Time the Reporting Buttons where not available in Outlook Mobile, so you needed to keep the “Report Message” Add-In and live with two places to Report a Mail.
Outlook on the Web
In OWA the Built in Reporting Buttons are also available
and you also had the “Report Message” Add-In.
New Outlook
The same applies for the New Outlook - you have two Reporting Buttons
Outlook Mobile
In Outlook the “Report Message” Add-In was a bit hidden. You needed to click on the three dots…
scroll to the Bottom and click on the Add-In
Now the Reportin Buttons are also integrated (Outlook for Android / Outlook for iOS > 4.2446) when using the three dots at the top
And select “Report Junk-E-Mail”
Now you can select between:
- Junk-E-Mail
- Phising
- Block Sender
Report Message Add-In
The Report Message Add-In can be found in M365 Admin Center > Integrated apps. Now that we have Support in Outlook Mobile we can get rid of the “Report Message” Add-In.
No Usage ddetails
Did you know, that there exist an Application in Entra for the “Report Message” Add-In? Go to Entra > Enterprise Applications and set the Filter to “All Applications” and search for “Report Message”
Add-In Management with PowerShell
I’ve blogged several times about the O365CentralizedAddInDeployment PowerShell Module

As you can see it’s now also gone in the M365 Admin Center > Integrated Apps
The Application in Entra Enterprise Application is now also gone
User Reported Settings
You can got to Microsoft Defender Admin Portal > Settings > Email & Collaboration
Or use this direct Link to User reported settings
Of course there is also a PowerShell Command in the ExchangeOnlineManagement PowerShell Module
Connect-ExchangeOnline -ShowBanner:$false
Get-ReportSubmissionPolicy
Report Message Add-In has been removed
It took several Hours until the Report Message Add In was removed
## Outlook for Windows (Classic)
Built In Report Buttons are still there
But not on Shared Mailbox
Outlook on the Web
Built In Report Buttons are available on Primary Mailbox
as well as on Shared Mailbox
New Outlook
Built In Report Buttons are available on Primary Mailbox
as well as on Shared Mailbox
Outlook Mobile
The Report Message Add-In has been removed
Built In Reporting Button is available on Primary Mailbox
as well as on Shared Mailbox
Summary
As you can see, there was a time, where both Junk-E-Mail Reporting capabilities where needed in order to use it on all plattforms. Now the time has come, and the gap on Outlook Mobile has been closed and the Report Message Add-In is no longer needed.
You can see the gap on reporting Junk-E-Mail in Outlook Classic on Shared Mailboxes. Workarounds are:
-
Use Outlook on the Web
-
Send a Mail to one of the following Emailaddresses and adding the Junk-E-Mail Message as Attachment
- Junk@office365.microsoft.com (email address for reported Junk emails)
- Not_Junk@office365.microsoft.com (email address for reported Not Junk emails)
- Phish@office365.microsoft.com (email address for reported Phishing emails)
