Hyper-V Machine failed to restore
Hi All,
Today i’ve updated my Windows Server 2025 to Preview Build 29558
Under known issues they state:
Users may experience failures when attempting to upgrade from earlier previews (build 26525 and older). VMs may fail to upgrade or start after upgrade from older preview builds impacting live migration and failover cluster scenarios.
The Update was successful
But the VM’s in Hyper-V wouln’t start anymore:
‘ICESRV02’ failed to restore The virtual machine ‘ICESRV02’ is not compatible with physical computer ‘ICESRV00’ ‘ICESRV02’ failed to restore. (Virtual machine ID)
The Fix was easy: Delete the Saved State
Start the VM
All VM’s successfuly startet
Probably should stop the VM’s bevore installing an Update. But that did not occur so far, so i was not worried.
